Q: What is your opinion of a 1982 ford bronco as a starter offroad rig?
Its a 2barrel, 302 V8, auto 4×4. It was running and driving but has been parked for 2 years now. Theyre asking 500, but i think i can get it cheaper. I like this ebcause its an auto and well..i only drive them.
So what is your opinion on this rig? Were they any good? Does a lot of years interchange parts?
A: there are better and worse out there all things equal and if it is to be an off road only rig, the price is right.if it runs and the body not too badly torn up.
when all is said and done you will probably have more money invested than you can ever hope to recoup upon resale [this is called a driving investment] as the only return will be your use off road
for the balance of your question[s]
1. these can be made into a quite capable vehicle.
2. yes even stock these weren’t bad, it will get you up to uncle ike’s cabin in any weather.
3. various parts[drive-train] will interchange through yrs.approx 1965 to early 90’s F150 pick ups.
early 1st generation bronco’s are sort of their own breed apart
Q: What are the shift points in a 1982 Ford Bronco transfer case?
Not sure what kind of t-case it is, but it has 4 shift points all in a row. Any help would be appreciated.
A: H-4 H-2 L-2 L-4 should be a new process 205
Q: parts for a 1982 ford bronco?
does any one have a good web site to look for parts for a 1982 ford bronco? I’m especialy looking for a soft top kit. Thanks.
A: This sells soft top specifically:
http://www.soft-tops.com/broncodriver.html
and:
http://www.jamesduff.com/broncoII/broncoII.html
Q: will a 1982 5.0 ford bronco tranny and transfer case bolt up to a 1987 5.0 bronco?
A: yes, make sure to take the drive shafts and cross member with you. The front axle is the same between the trucks, the rear axle on the 82 could be either a 9 inch or an 8.8, the 87 is an 8.8. Might be a minor difference in ujoints.
Q: Can I fit 33in super swamper bogger on my bronco?
I have a stock 1982 ford bronco and I wanted to put 33×12.5×15 on the front and 33×14x15 on the back. Do you thank they will fit.
A: No! You need at least 3 in of lift!!
Q: Ford Bronco question?
I bought my first truck (er…car.LOL) in June. Its a 1996 Ford Bronco. I love it dearly, but jmo that eventually parts will need to be replaced. And considering they don’t make broncos anymore,it seems like a pretty good idea to have a salvage bronco around for stealing pars and accessories off of. Also, I’m afraid of tearing “the precious” up in the snow, and would like a winter truck that I don’t worry about so much. My brother is getting his permit in 2009 and I would like to have a truck to teach him how to drive in,also if it was a manual that would be nice(idk how to drive a stick shift),for offroading, and towing stuff(my 96 doesn’t have a tow kit). But most importantly, for stealing parts off to fix my 96 in case of emergency. I found a 1982 bronco on craigslist for $600 it says it has “400 big block built” and that it runs. I don’t speak car, but I Ono that my bronco has a 351 in it. SOOO….MY QUESTION ISY…could I use parts from the 82 onthe 96?
I’m 17, btw.
A: 92-96 are the same vehicle. You don’t need a spare junker sitting around unless you have 10 acres and your parents don’t mind a parts car on the place.
Most of those Broncos had a 302.
Mechanical parts for it will be easy to find for a long time. Body parts are available from wrecking yards throughout the US. Parts from an 82 aren’t going to work on your 96, everything is different.
Info on different generations of Broncos.

Q: Do all Ford Broncos have removable tops?
Im looking at trading my old car (1982 Cadillac Edlorado in good shape) for a 1993 Ford Bronco. I’ve seen pictures of a few broncos with no back portion tops, and I wanted to know if it is a custom thing that can be done, or if it is a standard feature?
A: They came that way. I had a ‘79 and removed the top sometimes in the summer, so much fun and they look cool. Unless you have a garage I would check the weeks weather in advance before taking it off, thats what I did cuz the tops are heavy so I didn’t have to put it right back on. Also be aware that sometimes the tops would leak after removing/putting it back on. Mine never did though, just wanted ya know. Have fun!
Q: 4×4 tire sizing?
I have a 2001 Ford Explorer XLT. I have 15×10 wheels with 33×10.50 all terrain tires on them. Can i put them on this vehicle with out scrubbing, decreasing radius or causing turning radius problems with the standard vehicle height. Or will I have to lift it. If so, how much? Also, is the bolt/lug pattern the same for a 2001 Ford Explorer XLT as it is for a 1982 full-size Bronco XLT
A: There is no way those tires are gonna fit under that explorer.I have lifted many vehicles and your explorer is the same size as a bronco II or an s-10 4×4. Lifting your vehicle is the only way to fit those bad boys under there. The people i know that have their explorers lifted have about 4″ under them and are still runnin the 31’s.These vehicles need alot of lift to fit anything under it.I know i guy that has 9″ under his and he can barely fit 35’s.You will be able to get away with 33’s but only if you lift it at least 4″.Here is some pics of a explorer with 4″ and 33’s under it–
