Q: I am replacing the head liner in 1978 Ford Bronco II. The insulation under the headliner was bad.?
I am replacing the head liner in my 1978 Ford Bronco II. The insulation under the headliner was bad. What can I use for insulation. I have heard you can use foam board type insulation sold at Home Depot.
I also need to know how thick the insulation must be or how can I take a measurement to determine the thickness of the insulation.
A: Most headliners are like yours. They are foam and material put on cardboard. I have never replaced one myself but have been told you can use 1/8 to 1/4 sheet of foam bought from any craft store. You could even buy from local upholstery shop. Clean your board and reuse it if in good shape. Glue foam to board using spray can. Then glue headliner to foam. Install headliner back into truck being careful not to stretch material too much. Check online under Ford truck parts to see if you can buy one already assembled. Good luck!
Q: why dose my 1978 ford bronco not have any power?
My ford bronco has a 460 bored .30 over dosent seem like it has the power. its got a new carb new distributer but dose have yellow spark any ideas?
A: a yellow spark is too weak to efficiently ignite the fuel/air mixture.
you should have a hot blue/white spark.
IDEAS :
1 weak coil (most common cause)
2 worn dist cap and rotor.
3 worn/damaged plug wires.
4 spark plugs worn / gap to big. (should be .045 in.)
Q: How do you change a clutch in a 1978 ford bronco with a 351M engine ?
I am asking how to do this if you think taking it to a shop is your Answer please do not reply.
A: If I remember correctly you’ll have to remove cross member thats under the transmission and tranfer case. You’ll have to unhook the drive shafts, linkages and remove the transmission and transfer case, You’ll need to resurface flywheel and replace clutch assembly.
Q: I have a 1978 ford Bronco with a 1970 429. What should i use as far as parts for a full tune-up ?
Plugs, wires everything. I want more torque then speed !
A: A good tune up with everything and some tweaking of the carburetor,
to include setting up your total timing of the motor will get you the
most performance out of your 429 cid.
Q: I have a 1976 corvette and am looking to trade it for a pre 1978 ford bronco. Anyone got one to trade?
The Corvette is red and it needs work. I would price it at $3000-$4500. I am looking for a pre 1978 Bronco in that price range, to trade. Anyone interested?
I am in West Chester PA 19380
A: dont get a bronco..pleaz..my moms friend’s son died in one..they are super dangerous..and the other day..my neighbors bronco randomly caught on fire..dont get one
Q: i have a 1978 Ford Bronco XLT, does anyone know if the engine is injected, carbureted or throttle body?
i live out of town and a friend is driving it an having some problems, i am trying to diagnose over the phone but…. ya.
A: 1978: The Bronco was offered with a 351M or 400 V-8 engine. Both engines had a 2 bbl carb. If you have the original engine then it has a carburetor.
Q: 1978 Ford Bronco engine repair.Help!?
I just got a lifted 1978 ford bronco with a 351M engine thats seized up for 300 bucks.
Can anyone give me help or webistes that have the 351M engine rebuild kits?
The more information about rebuilding, manuels or fixing The better.
A: This is a hard subject, might be better to go to a machine shop and talk to them to get all answers on this. Boring, oversized, and crank bearings and journals, are things that need to be addressed by pros.
Q: 1978 ford bronco 6.6L?
Another dumb question, I could find out by dropping my gas tank but on the 1978 bronco ranger 6.6L 400m is there a fuel pump in the gas tank? Mine has a inline fuel pump in about the middle of the vehicle on the driver side so no mechanical pump is being used. After the truck runs for 10 min or so it just stops pumping fuel. I pulled the inline pump out and rigged it up to a 12 volt power source and let it run for about 2 hours just pumping fuel from a large container back into the container so it just was reused. I don’t see how it would be vapor lock the pump is in a cool place and the fuel lines in the engine compartment are not getting all that hot. I am just pulling my hair out any thoughts? thanks in advance!
A: You’ve got a carb engine, so the fuel pump is on the drivers side of the engine block, on the timing chain cover, UNLESS someone has modified it. And, since the factory did not put in line pumps on Bronco’s, looks like yours was modified by a previous owner. When you say it stops pumping fuel, is it still working, just not pumping ??? And vapour lock is a problem in the carb, where you have a carb heated by the engine .
Q: anyone need a 1978 ford bronco in arizona?
let me know and we can discuss price.
A: You should post on craigslist.org not here.
Q: i have a 1978 ford bronco with 31′ tires and i need to know if 3 people can move it unstarted a block?
with three people pushing it one at the steering wheel outside of vehicle and two in rear pushing can it be moved on level surface a total of a block
A: It should not be a prob. w/3 people, just have the smallest person steering so the stronger two can push most of the weight. Be careful, it will still be heavy but once rolling it wont be to bad
Q: I have a 1978 ford bronco help!!!?
I want to put a diffent engine in my bronco….. one with feul injection would be nice so I could get rid of the carburetor. What I’m wondering is first of all if it’s possible, what size engine would it be, would I have to get a different transmission, and what kind if that.things like that thanks much!
A: You can add fuel injection to any engine, and since your asking , Holley Projection 2 or 4bbl would work best. see it at jegs or summit. com, or holley, do you have electronic ignition? it cleared up a lot of bad manners in my 71 LTD 429, and ford electronic ignition is drop in and as chesp in price as anyone elses, and you will pass smog with ford parts
Q: if its worth fixing up a 1978 ford bronco?
its a 351m. and it was the free Wheeling package.it was my fathers so it kind of means something to me. i added the price up and it going to cost AT LEAST $2500 to fix. thank you I would really like to hear your opinion’s. and the way i look at it is that i would rather spend 2500 into a truck i really like rather than buying a car for 2500 that isn’t as cool.
ps. it was a winch and giant winch bumper on the front. which is pretty bad ass looking
A: I have an old Ford truck fetish, so my vote is to fix it. Few things are cooler than a Ford truck from that era.
Q: will the radiator out of a 1978 Ford f150 custom with a 351 m fit in a 1966 ford Bronco with a 351 cleveland?
A: since there ae a coule diferent size rads for both..just measure it up. put the two side by side and look at them
Q: what is the best website to buy a 1978 or 1979 ford bronco?
A: eBay.com, Craigslist.com, Usedcars.com, autotrader.com, edmunds.com, and cars.com.
Q: why my ford bronco wont start?
i started up My 1978 ford bronco to take it over to the garage once i got it over there i shut it off to work on it then tired to start it and it makes a loud click kinda like a knock and all the lights work it might be my starter but i don’t see how a starter can go bad that easily any ideas?
A: i have a 77 ford,so check the solenoid,or the inginion box.more then likely the solenoid is bad.they sometimes go out pretty quickly and gets u thinking of what it could be.and also,u might want to pull the starter out and check the teeth and the fly wheel, they could get worn down bad enough to where they get in a bind and not start.i had that problem.AND FORDS DONT SUCK EITHER.not the old ones neways.
