Q: WHat is wrong with my 1990 Ford Bronco?
I recently bought a 1990 Ford Bronco, V8. Everything seems to run well, except there are times when it stalls out. When I slow down or come to a complete stop after driving it a little while it will stall out. Also, right after I start it and put it in reverse it might stall out. Thnks for the help!

A: did you get a tune-up?

Q: What to do first with my 1990 Ford Bronco Off-Road experiment truck?
I just purchased a 90 Ford Bronco with the 302. It has a decent body and the motor still runs strong. It has decent off-road tires and shocks, but no lift or anything else. Mileage is 110000. How should I go about getting this truck is good running order and off-road capability to run the trails… nothing crazy… just some logging trails or something similar… Thank you!

A: leave like it is. throw an extra tire or 2 in the back and go try it out. if it breaks call a buddy, fix it, try it again

Q: My 1990 Ford Bronco Will Not Shift Gears. What do I need to replace to bring it back to working order?
It is a manual/stick shift. It seems stuck in park. I would like to buy the part myself to save some money. What years besides 1990 could I also look for when finding parts?
I’m totally lost with cars!

As I driving about 30 it just quit. I started it again a little while later it pulled along for about a block, quitting again. It was chained back to my parking place where it now won’t budge.

A: 90 Bronco 4 or 5 Speed, There is no “Park” with a Stick Shift. Synchronizer Rings in Transmission or Clutch & Throw-Out Bearing. also sounds you could be driving at too low a Speed & RPM for the Gear you’re in.

Q: How do I fix the idle on my 1990 Ford Bronco?
My idle was a little off with my Bronco. After I started it, it would jump up and down a little and then stall out. Someone told me to clean out the idle control valve. So i bought some carb cleaner and a new gasket and cleaned it up and replaced the gasket. Now my idle is super low and I cant keep the car running without having my foot on the gas. What should I do, what is wrong?

A: Well, you know the IAC valve is bad now so replace it.The idle jumping up and down can be caused by an idle air control starting to go bad and when you tried to clean it you might have just finished it off.Put a new one on because it needs that for sure now and if that dont fix it -then take it to a tech.

Q: How do I replace my fuel filter on my 1990 Ford Bronco?
As of lately, my Bronco takes some time to get started. It usually takes about a total of 5-15 secs to start. Once it has been running for a while though and I start it soon after it was running, its starts no problem. I believe it is the fuel pump or maybe the fuel filter that is causing this problem. Is it very difficult to change the pump? Would I need to take off the fuel tank to get to it? The Bronco has the V8 302 motor. Thank you!

A: You have two fuel filters in that vehicle. The one that usually gets changed is along the rail on the drivers side underneath the vehicle. If you are going to do it yourself be sure to relieve the pressure first. good luck

Q: What is the towing capacity of a 1990 Ford Bronco with a 302 engine?
I have the chance to buy a Bronco with a 302 and 91K on it. It’s in decent shape, but I need it to tow my Jayco trailer, which weighs about 2,700 lbs. I want take it up some decent hills; would the 302 be able to handle it? Thanks.

A: Yes it can pull up to around 6000 lbs. I would install a tranny cooler though. The 302 will pull it just fine. You might not even notice your traier is back there.

Q: What is the bulb size of the dome light on a 1990 Ford Bronco?
I need to know the size of the dome light so i can buy new ones. i need the size of the big center one and the two side ones. also, where can i find l.e.d headlights for a 90 bronco, most are for 92 and up. anything will help. thank you.

A: the size is 105 bulb. this site has the guide to every single car its gonna help

Q: I have a 1990 Ford Bronco when I turn my steering wheel my whole car moves from side to side?
I checked the power steering fluid full . A lot of play in the steering wheel also when I push the side of the car the steering wheel turns in the car. When turning the steering wheel tires do not move only the frame sways back and forth with turns of the steering wheel.

A: the steering box might be broken off the frame, common ford problem

Q: How do you reset the computer on a 1990 Ford Bronco II with a 2.9 engine after the battery has been disconnect
Had to replace the alternator and now it idles rough at start-up and runs at a higher rpm at highway speeds than before.

A: actually unhook the negative for 5 minutes is all it takes to reset the eec IV computer.

Q: i have a 1990 ford bronco xlt and i want to put a 351. Which is easier to swap. do i halft to change the trans?
i want 2 put a 351 in my 1990 ford bronco xlt and i would like to if either the windsor or clevland would be a more suitable and easier to match for my trans. Also what do i need to replace such a axles, driveshafts, etc..

A: Either one will bolt up to the trans but the Windsor will be easier simply because the Broncos had them easier to get the little parts for, like the oil pan and motor mounts

Q: Can anyone help me find a diagram for the cruise control vacuum hose routing in a 1990 Ford Bronco II?
If you can give me the diagram or a link to a website I can get it from it will be MUCH appriciated.

A: Try your local library. I prefer “Motor’s Manuals” if your library carries them. If not, then a Haynes or Chilton Manual, will have to do.They publish books on vacuum function/routing.If they have it on the computer,it’s easy to make acopy of it.Or just copy the correct pages from the book. BEWARE! Check all the diagrams that cover your vehicle. Check Model,Options,Date of manufacture,Engine size, Place of assembly,California, Canada or elsewhere in the U.S.A.,all of this makes a difference.

Q: How many gallons of gasoline will the tank hold in a stock 1990 Ford Bronco II?

Q: Ford Bronco 1990 Eddie Bauer 4×4 won’t start for the second time after running for a while. Help?
I put a new starter, battery, starter cylinoid and alternator, and after turning on and driving for 15 min for the first time, I turned off the bronco, then tried to start it again. It cranks slowly,(not enough power) but the engine never starts. I even jumped the battery with my car and nothing happened. The dashboard readings would jitter back and forth as if the power was going somewhere else.

A: If you checked all the lights and made sure nothing was on by mistake then the only thing left is your connections to the starter and your battery cables. Whats happening is no matter how much power you send through your charging system it doesnt get to the starter which to me says bad battery cables to the starter. To verify take an ohmeter to the battery and test voltage. Then go the the hot wire and test back all the way to the starter and youll find your prob. in there somewhere i guarantee it. Thats about all you can replace on a broncos charging system which i assume is a 302 or 351W and come up empty. So by process of elimination just replace the wires i wouldnt even test it its all it could possibly be unless you made bad connections to the starter.

Q: i just bought a 1990 Ford Bronco Does not accelerate when pedal fully depressed?
I got this bronco for a steal the engine runs strong 4×4 works and body straight it just accelerates very slowly like the transmission is missing a gear the former owner had the transmission overhauled in june (have reciepts from clutch mart) any ideas on what might be wrong
Yes we test drove the truck bought it for 650 dollars with a real clean and staraight body good interior and off road tires and rims well worth the money i paid like i daid it runs good just seems lkke a transmission shift problem

A: Surely there must be somebody in your town that can hear when gears shift. You need to figure out if that is even an issue. We’re on the internet. We can’t hear your truck.

Put a tach on it, if you have to, and make sure it’s in the right gear when you’re trying to accelerate. It may be shifting too early instead of missing a gear. That can happen when the TV cable breaks or gets unhooked.

Q: Average lifespan of a 1990 Ford Bronco II?
I’m looking at buying a 1990 Ford Bronco II with an automatic transmission that has 158,000 miles on it, im wondering how long these bad boys usually run

A: Not such answer here. That will always depend on how ell this vehicle was taken care of before you got it, and how well you take care of thereafter.

That’s pretty much for any ehicle.

Best wishes to you.
