Q: I have a 1988 ford bronco II and after it runs for awhil it shuts off and wont start till it cools off. ?
I replaced the electronic ign. module(new) and the coil with another from an old parts car of the same. But it still does it.

A: Pick up coil?

Q: Can somebody please tell me if a 1988 Ford Bronco II has a removeable top?
Also if you have any thoughts on major known issues with that year of truck.

A: The top is not removeable. The only real issue is they tend to roll easier than most 4×4’s due to the narrow width, short wheelbase, and high center of gravity.
With the proper tires, a bronco II will go places off road that most others can’t.

Q: how can i get a free shop repair manual for my 1988 ford bronco?
i have to rebuild the steering colum, and have need of the shop manual.

A: Go to AutoZone and buy a Hayes Repair Manual. They come in just about every flavor for about $20 bucks.
Good Luck

Q: I have a 1988 Ford Bronco II and failed my smog test due to a leak in my EVAP system. How can I find it? ?
Is there a way to find the leak myself? I just lost my job and really can’t afford to take it to a shop.

A: A smoke machine makes short work of finding an EVAP system leak but not all shops have one. I suggest you call around to some ASE certified shops and ask if they have one before taking it to just any repair shop. Snap-on tools makes one of the best smoke machines:

If you locate a shop which has one it will find the leak fast and save you a lot on diagnostic time fees.

Q: 1988 ford bronco Transfer case motor?
i am looking into buying a 1988 ford bronco 4×4. it runs and drives fine an automatic but the motor on the transfer case for the 4×4 needs to be replaced i ain’t too knowledgeable on broncos so how hard and how much would it cost to get it replaced if i do it myself. and also do ford broncos make good mud trucks.
i am only wanting it for muddin and i also forgot ot ad it is a bronco full size.

A: Yes they are great trucks, hey OJ had one lol.
About the motor, if you somewhat mechanical then you can try to fix the motor yourself, 80 to 90 percent of the time you can remove it and take the motor apart and useing 120 grit sand paper sand lightly the armature and brushs on the motor, reassemble it and it should start working again. The brushs are bad to corroide up. A lot cheaper than just replaceing it.

Q: I have a 1988 Ford Bronco and when i go down canyons or a road that is steep I’ll brake and the car shakes.
The more I brake the more the car shakes. My uncle has a 1988 F250 and it does the same thing. Does anyone know why it does this?

A: I suggest checking the rotors out they could possibly be warped and if that is the case it will continue until you do your brakes and while this is doing this your brakes may start to wear unevenly and will continue to effect your braking, it isn’t a good idea to continue to do this because on wet roads if you’ve really got to get on the brakes when the vehicle is shaking like that and your trying to control the steering wheel you could become skiddish and when skidding its going to be hard to control the vehicle and it could very well land you in a wreck.

Q: HELP!!1988 ford bronco cant get the back window or the power locks to work?
hopefully someome out here can help me with this.
i just purchased a 1988 ford bronco, power windows/locks
i cannot get the locks or the back window to work, the other windows work fine, i have tested all the wiring and switches and everything is woking fine. i also took the window motor into ford and they said it was fine. i am stumped!!
any ideas on what i could check next, or what could be wrong
would be greatly appreciated. thanks
bty..the window is not run off a fuse its run off a circuit breaker and there is ful power all the way to the motor

A: The windows are controlled separately from the locks.

The window lock-out operates by cutting off the power to the other three
door switches. If you cannot lock-out the windows, then the problem is
almost certainly in the master window switch.

All your electric locks are on the same circuit. If some work but others do not, you should suspect the actuators on the doors that do not (un)lock properly. and yeah, try also to test the fuse… Good luck!!!

Q: How much is a water pump for a ford bronco 1988?
My bronco II has been over heating and the longer you drive it the faster it stops running. After we let it cool down and put water in it and try starting it up water pours out of the bottom toward the front. I’m hoping its a water pump. thats what everyone has told me.

A: Auto zone; 2.9 v6 $ 29.97 to $ 47.99
Check your local area.

Q: how much does it cost to clean fuel injectors on a 1988 ford bronco II?

A: If you have an injector thats hanging up, your better off replacing it on that ‘88. they are about $60 and thats always cheaper than a tow.

Q: Will 31 inch tires and 2 inch wheel spacers fit on a stock 1988 ford bronco?

Q: Can a 1988 Ford Bronco w/ a 351 be replaced in a 1988 dodge power ram 100 series w/ a 318?

A: the short answer is yes, BUT the hard answer is to find all the parts you will need to complete the swap check the motormounts first to see if they bolt up then are you going to use the trans from the 351 what type is it c-4/c-6/aod youll need to check the drive shaft length to see if you can shorten it need a longer one etc…

Q: Question about a 1988 Ford Bronco II?
My mom has a Ford Bronco II.

This question isn’t about the engine or whatever.
I guess ours is a Bronco II XLT.

What exactly does XLT mean? Was it some kind of options package or trim level? Or does it just sound cool.

I do know, however, that there are non-XLT Bronco II’s.

So does anyone know what I’m talking about?

A: Fancy trim package, that’s all.
