Q: What is the shifting pattern for a ‘Three on The Tree’ column shift on a 1968 Ford Bronco?

A: leanne has it right ! i use to drive lots of them but now days the shifter is on the floor.

Q: will a ford 390 from a 1968 (i think) thunderbird bolt up to the tranny in a 1990 ford bronco full size?
the bronco has a 302 in it and it leaks antifreeze and oil and is totally giving out but i have a 390 with only like 20,000 miles on it

A: No, the 390 will not bolt up to the trans in your Bronco.
The 390 is an excellent engine, but is a completely different block.
The 390 is from the FE Family of engines
352,360,390,406,410,427,428
while the 5.0 is a small block
255,289,302,351w

You will need small block to replace your small block
or you will need an $850 adapter (see link)

Q: was hoping to find out what the timing should be set at for a ford 302 ?
The motor is in my 1968 ford Bronco….

A: My 1967 289 4V was 7degrees before TDC. When I had really hi octane gas I would go to 10 Degrees. If it knocks your to advanced, if it isn’t knocking your either retarded or OK. Set it a 10, if it knocks lower it to 7 and try again. If you are retarded too far it won’t run with any power. Too far advanced ..gas knock…

The gas we have today is lower octane than 1968.
