Q: Truck Help?
Hi,

I am looking at buying a used 1995 Ford Bronco (with a 302 engine, not the 351. and it only has 103,000 miles) for sale. It has a 4 inch lift and 35 inch tires. I know that a bronco normally gets 13mpg city and 17mpg highway. I was just wondering if having the lift and bigger tires will make me get a lot worse gas mileage. Could you please tell me about how many mpg I will get?

Thanks

A: Yes, but how much is subjective. The bigger tires mean that there is more rubber touching the ground. This results in more friction and drag. Also, the lift will deduct a slight bit of mpgs due to increased air resistance. Exactly how much cannot be known until you drive it for yourself. However, 9-11 mpg city and 11-13 mpg highway is an accurate guess. Hope this helps.

Q: which of these cars is the best deal for the money?
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresults.jsp?engine=&fuel=&lastStartYear=1981&sort_type=priceDESC&default_sort=priceDESC&systime=&drive=&style_flag=1&body_code=0&seller_type=b&min_price=0&color=&keywords_display=&advanced=&distance=50&doors=&keywordsrep=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&awsp=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=n&rdm=1262633889652&marketZipError=false&keywordsfyc=&search_type=both&transmission=&max_price=3000&max_mileage=&end_year=2011&make=&start_year=1981&num_records=25&certified=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&address=46805&pager.offset=200&first_record=201

Thanks

A: you can use a GPS unit to get accurate mileage reading to figure mpg correctly…

A: My f-150 dropped from about 13 to 10 with larger tires.

if you are looking for an everyday driver… I wouldn’t recommend it.

Q: Truck Help!!!!!!!!!?
Hi,

I am looking at buying a used 1995 Ford Bronco (with a 302 engine, not the 351. and it only has 103,000 miles) for sale. It has a 4 inch lift and 35 inch tires. Could you please tell me about how many mpg I will get?

Thanks

A: The lift and tires will make the mileage even worse. Way worse. I’d be surprised if it gets as much as 10mpg city at this point.

Unless you’re pretty smart about trucks, you don’t know whether the guy that did the mods has done a comprehensive job with it – did he match the final drive ratios to the new tires, or did he leave it stock, for instance.

If you never venture farther off-road than a gravel drive, leave this thing alone. If you’re spending a lot of time wondering exactly where the next sign of civilization is, then get a mechanic to look this beast over and tell you how far wrong it’s gone. If it’s sound, it may be worth the trouble. But for any kind of regular driving, it’s overdone. You’ll burn through your grandkids’ inheritance keeping it fueled.

Q: Ford Bronco Back Window Replacement?
Someone busted my back window. It’s a 1994 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer edition, if that even matters. I found a back window for sale on craigslist but the thing is it’s for an 83 Bronco. Would that window fit or no? It would save me a bunch of cash if I could just buy that one off craigslist. I appreciate any help or advice you can give =]

THANKS!!!

A: The 83 Bronco and the 94 Bronco were different body styles. Sorry but the 83 window will not fit the 94. You can use windows from 91 to 95 and some early 96 Broncos.

Q: How do I remove a stereo from a 1996 Ford Bronco?
I just bought an awesome 1996 Ford Bronco from a private seller. He installed an aftermarket stereo in the bronco but lost the face plate. I need to remove the stereo that’s in there and put in a different one. I cannot figure out how to take the stereo out of the dash. Do I need to remove the dash? There are no screws showing on the stereo or around it. Thanks for your help!

A: you need a fine edged tool to pop the casing loose, then you simply disconnect the wiring by pulling it loose from the connectors or clipping them. When you install the new one you will need to buy connectors.

Q: What is the average gas mileage for a 1996 Ford Bronco?
I am just wondering what the average gas mileage is for a 1996 Ford Bronco. If you could help.
For real, I am looking for a true awnser.

A: I have a 1995 Bronco with the 351W. When it was stock. It got about 11-12 MPG around town. On the highway it got 14-15 MPG. Mine has a 4 inch suspension lift, 33 inch tires and 4.56 gears now. It gets around 9-12 MPG now. This isn’t a vehicle you get if you care about fuel mileage.

Q: How much money is a 1996 Ford Bronco worth?
I want to sell my 1996 Ford Bronco. But i don’t not how much money to sell it for.

A: 101 ways to make money here:

http://www.anysellings.com/admin/101-ways-to-make-money.htm

Q: Check Engine light is on in my 1996 Ford Bronco but runs fine. What could the problem be?
It has been on for a month or so, and I have not had a problem. It is a 1996 Ford Bronco XLT with about 152000 miles on it.
i have heard from a friend that this could actually be a gascap that isnt sealed properly. is that true?

A: If you have a check engine light on, it means one of the systems the computer controlls and/or monitors is not working properly. Lots of people will tell you that if the car runs fine, there is nothing wrong, or to replace the O2 sensor (the oxygen sensor). They don’t know what they are talking about. Something IS wrong, and although it may be a minor problem, it is in your best interest to find out what it is. Go to your local parts store, and they will read the code for free. If it’s something minor, like a loose gas cap, great. Tighten it up and drive with peace of mind. If it’s something serious, you’ll be glad you were able to address it before you incurred costly repairs or possibly, endangered your safety.

Q: Conversion from gas to powerstroke on a 1996 Ford Bronco?
Has anybody seen one or heard of this type of a conversion. Also the Bronco is a 4X4 and I would want to make it a 2X4. So it would be a complete conversion. Maybe even a six speed conversion.

A: you would be better off buying a new ar rather than going through all of this trouble. if you have a lot of money to do this then go ahead.

Q: how do you remove the old hinges and bushings from a 1996 ford bronco door?
I have been trying to remove my old door hinges from by bronco because of the fact that my door will no longer close anymore do to the door hangs to low so it does not close. I have tried every thing there is to bang them out how is this done any help would be greatly appreciated

A: If you are trying to remove the hinges you need to remove the nuts from the bolts that are inside the cab underneath the dash board. There should be an access hole to get to the bolts. If you are removing the bushings try to heat the hinges up with a torch and then drive out the bushings either with a steel dowel or bolt just smaller than the hole If you still can’t get the bushings out just get new hinges at a ford dealership.

Q: what is the best way to increase performance on a 1996 ford bronco with a 351 efi?
i have stock cats with straight pipe after cat and k&n hi flow kit having a hard time finding a tuner module for it or a chip most stop at 1995 model year any ideas would be helpful also looking for a good way to lift 24 inches to fit 35″s on it i love this truck and plan on keeping a long time

A: start with headers and the intake, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator gives you power too.

Q: What colors where offered on the 1996 Ford Bronco XLT?
I have a Red one,(with red bumpers, grille, headlight bezels) and would like to know the exact color

A: That red’s known as “crimson” by Ford. Nice truck!

Q: Do they make soft tops for a 1996 Ford Bronco?
It seems I can only find them for up to the 1991 model due to the brake lights or something. Any suggestions?

A: Besttop Have you tried them.

http://www.bestop.com

Q: where can i find the ECM on my 1996 ford bronco XLT?
i need to find this out because my transmission’s timing is off. and i heard from some people who build their broncos up that it is because of the ECM. i cant seem to find it, i know what it looks like but i don’t know where it is. please help, it is important because its messing up my transmission.

A: Behind the kick panel on drivers side under steering wheel.

Q: is the top removable on a 1996 ford bronco?
i am looking to buy a ‘96 bronco, and i was wondering if the top was still removable that year.
thanks

A: yes but it takes a tamper proof torx socket on some of the bolts

Q: Can the top come off a 1996 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer edition?

A: It can, but you’ll have to deal with rear seat belts and rear brake light that’s built into it. If you do take it off, make sure you store on a level surface, it you lean up against something to store it, it’ll warp slightly and squeak alot when you put it back on.

Q: I drive a 1996 Ford Bronco (The original). I need new tires, can I get some names and prices for new tires?
Im asking for various prices; im slightly poor at the moment. My tires are so bad, i slide in the rain :/

A: Big O Tires and others often have good used tires f

Q: Can I install a 3rd row seat in a 1996 (fullsize) Ford Bronco?
I am interested in purchasing a Ford Bronco. Is there room and is it’s possible to install a 3rd row seat for extra passengers? If so, where do I go to have it properly installed?

A: you need a custom shop for that job, you can pick out a seat that has seat belts already attatched. It may be expensive. Here in CT we have a place called custom coach and they would be able to do it- ya gotta look for a place…. Good Luck!

Q: 1996 Ford Bronco Question?
I was wondering if I should buy a 1996 Ford Bronco for 4 thousand dollars. Everything is in great shape and it only has 55 thousand miles. also what is the gas mileage on this vehicle
it is a 5.4 liter, v-8, 351

A: That is a bargain for a Bronco. They are awesome rides. Go for it.

Q: could someone give me the 1995 Ford Bronco redlines?
I have a 1995 Ford bronco. It’s a manual and ford decided not to put in a tach. It’s a 5 speed manual, V-8 302. I was wondering if someone with the same transmission and engine could find out the redlines of the gears in MPH. I repeat MPH lol. Or even find them on the internet, because I can’t. Thanks!
yes, i know the engine redline. I dont have a tachometer so I dont know the RPMs. I need to know redline in MPH. Stock tire size stock gear ratios, nothing special.

A: That’s gonna vary due to tire size and gear ratio in the axles. 5000rpm is the engine redline.

Q: WHERE can i get a new leather seat cover for a 1995 ford bronco. I want it to look just like the factory kind?
I have a 1995 ford bronco with tan leather seats and the drivers side seat is worn. Where can i get a replacement that will look just like the one thats on their. It’s factory not a cover like at pep boys.

A: you can either take it to an upholstery shop and have them recovered or buy seats used and replace the original seats. They don’t sell just covers.

Q: Does anyone know what size the 4 speaker areas are in a 1995 Ford Bronco?
Im getting speakers formy Ford Bronco andlooking for a placeto install them so does anyone knowhow big the front and back ones are?And also a placethat installsthem for free?

A: Front: 6 1/2″
Rear: 6 x 8″ (Typical Ford Mid-Panel setup)

Not sure who will install for free. If you’re a good negotiator, you might talk a car audio place into doing it by paying full retail price of a pair of speakers instead of talking them down on the price or something of the sort. The other option is to find a buddy that can do it. (Although speaker replacement is farily easy … you might want to look into doing it yourself.)

Q: I have a 1995 ford bronco xlt and it runs fine but on occasions it just will not start ?
It runs fine but sometimes when i get back in it, it doesn’t start. It can’t be overheating because it is 5 degrees outside and when I get in it again it has sit for hours. Does anyone know what could cause the random event.

A: Could be the starter, I had that problem a while back on a 87 ranger, they relaced the battey, the wires to the starter nothing worked untill they accually replaced the starter.

Q: How do I remove the rear panels in a 1995 ford bronco in order to get to the rear spaeakers?
I need to get to the rear stock speaker not the front.

A: If I remember right, the speakers have removable covers on them. You shouldnt have to take the whole plastic panel off to get to the speakers.

Q: Where should i get a new engine for my 1995 Ford Bronco (i choose best answer)?
my 1995 ford bronco has 190 thousand miles on it. everything runs perfect except for the engine is losing power. I am looking for a rebuilt engine.

I am looking for recommendations on where to look for one and how much i will have to pay.

I have the 5.0L v8 but it i would like a 5.8L if it wont cost too much more to throw in.

A: I would go to your local parts store such as Autozone or Oreilly Auto Parts. They usually have some great deals. I’ve also used http://www.bestrebuiltengines.com/FORD8.htm to purchase a few. They are priced very reasonably as well. Good luck!

Q: What is the best sound system for my 1995 ford bronco?
its a 95 and has a pretty crappy sound system, should i get a new antenna along with speakers, woofer etc.

A: If your looking for the best system possible. Look for the JL audio Dub 7’s. They are ground shakers… and look for an amp that has at around 2000 watt rms. Get the 2 gauge wire and let the professional install it because with that amount of money spent you want things done perfect. and have a professional recommend the best head unit for the subs too. Best best luck. or go with a jackhammer… biggest baddest sub on the market (my opinion) but lemme tell you you will not have any trunk space at all because that thing is HUGE!!!

Q: Does anyone have a red and white 1995 Ford Bronco?
I have the 351 5.8l V8. I just got the Flowmaster 40 Series installed. But has anyone seen a white one with a cherry red stripe down the side? I’m wondering how rare it is.

A: I’ve never seen one either. You might want to check the paint code inside the door panel to see if it’s factory paint. You’ll have to look up the paint code or call an auto paint store to look it up, like KC auto paint.

If it is factory paint it would be a rare truck, keep it in good condition!

Q: 1995 ford bronco eddie baurer 351 my speedo does not work my engine over shift and my over drive light flashe?

A: sounds like a bad speed sensor. Need to have it scanned for codes.

Q: How do I program a remote for a 1995 Ford Bronco?

A: here’s a link to them on ebay.

Q: lately my 1995 ford bronco has been cranking but not kicking over?
then at times it starts right up.I have anew battery andpreplaced the starter when it went so I dont know what esle it could be if the fuel filter is dirty or i need if fuel puimp if its going whats the cost to do the job both parts and labor?

A: if it starts but starts slow, get rid of the platinum’/s and put some asf45-7

Q: How do you take the top off of a 1995 Ford Bronco?

A: http://www.supermotors.net/vehicles/registry/4970/19630
This is for a different year model, but it should give you an idea.

Q: where can i find a transmission sensor for a 1995 ford bronco xlt full size?

A: If advance don’t carry it try ford dealer or salvage yard

Q: lacking power in my 1995 ford bronco with the 5.0 L what could cause this problem it runs smooth but no power?
my engine runs smooth really great at idle and take off but when i get at cruising speed it just really lacks power and just dogs out. any suggestions.

A: It could be the catalytic converter is clogged when at idle or cold the converter could flow fine but as engine rpms rise more exhaust flows and the converter heats up i was wondering if you smell rotten eggs or a sulphur smell if so chances are the converter is clogged and needs replaced

Q: where is the factory amplifier located in a 1995 ford bronco with premium sound?
looking for the factory amp in a full size ford bronco with the premium sound option

A: look on the passengers side ,,up above the glove box area,,if I’m not mistaken its there,,i have seen one model,,of a ford that had it under the passengers seat, but do not remember which model it was,,yours should be in under the dash area on the passengers side ,,good luck i hope this help,s,,i own a repair shop,,and have put a few of them in before but its been a while,,good luck with it.

Find new and used 1993 Ford Bronco at our automotive classifieds and Used Cars for Sale website Classifieds.CarForums.net

Q: how do you replace a fuel filter on a 1993 Ford Bronco?
I have a 1993 Ford Bronco with a 302 in it. How do I replace the fuel filter?

A: If it’s a 4×4 the filter is under the driver side door on the frame, if it’s a 4×2 then the filter is ahead of the passenger side wheel on the frame. Pull the fuel pump fuse from under the hood and crank it over to relieve some fuel pressure and ensure that the fuel doesn’t shoot out all over the place. Then unscrew the band clamp off of the filter. If the fuel lines have the plastic pin type retainers just pull the pins out and pull out the filter. If it has the metal auto-locking spring couplers then you need a 5/16″ fuel line disconnect tool. Wiggle the line/filter, push the tool into the coupler all the way and turn and pull the fittings apart. Put the new filter back in with the flat end facing the rear and push the pins back in/push the couplers back on and re-tighten the band clamp. Put the fuse back in the under-hood fuse panel. Turn the key from off to run about 5 times to cycle the fuel pump and prime the lines. Check to see if there is any gas leaking and if there isn’t start it up.

Q: 1993 ford bronco parts where do i get them on the net?
I would like to know where a good place is to buy black bumpers and and a black grill for a 1993 ford bronco

A: www.lmc.com
www.autokrafters.com
www.broncograveyard.com

Q: My airbag light in my 1993 Ford Bronco is blinking the code “32″. What does this mean?
It only does it occasionally, though. It has only done it twice in the past week.

A: Rawr, Code #32 has to do with the Driver side air bag circuit resistance High or Open. Have the connection at the air bag to clock spring checked. Hope this helps. TW

Q: 1993 Ford Bronco with Hypertech chip – OBD I scanning?
Can I still scan using an OBD I scanner for “check engine” codes if the original chip has been replaced with a Hytech performace chip? Thanks for the help.

A: im sure hypertech has a customer service/tech line…try hypertech.com

Q: 302 motor for a 1993 ford bronco?
motor is blown in my 1993 ford bronco it did have a 302 in it & i found a rebuilt 302 that came out of a 1991 f150 just wondering if that will fit in my bronco ? or what i will need to make it work
thanks !
the 302 that came out of the 1991 f150 was connected to a 3 speed auto C6 trans….would it still work ?

A: There are a few minor issues you should be aware of. It’s possible, though unlikely that the 93 302 is Mass Air. In 1993 on California Broncos/F-150s were Mass-Air. If yours is, then you’ have to swap over the ECU and and MAF sensor/meter to the 91 302. Also If your Bronco has the E4OD transmission, you’ll have to swap over the ECU from the 93 302 to the 91 302. Since the transmission will be looking for a signal from the engine. Though if the 91 302 came out of a truck with the E4OD you’ll be fine. However it’s more than likely that the 91 302 came out of a truck with the AOD transmission that is not electronically controlled.

Edit: Helmut : The ECU needs to be swapped. If the OP has a Mass-Air engine. The speed density engines were batch fire and the mass-air engines were sequential injection. If he doesn’t the engine will not function properly if at all. This only applies if the engine from the 93 is indeed mass air though. Also the AOD isn’t electronically controlled, it doesn’t get any information from the ECU. If the OP’s 93 has an electonically controlled transmission (such as the E40D) then it needs to get signal from the ECU/PCM to function properly. The electonically controlled transmissions use data from then engine (engine temp, engine speed, vehicle speed, etc.) as factors when determining a shifting stratedgy. If it’s not getting any info from the ECU/PCM then it goes into a fail safe mode where line pressure is greatly increased and some driveability issues manifest themselves.

Q: How do I change the brake rotors to my 1993 Ford Bronco?

A: a. Loosen lug nuts on wheel.
1. Jack up car
2. Remove Wheel.
3. Remove Brake Caliper and hang with a wire/coat hanger.
4. Rotor should slide off. May be stuck to hub via rust. Clean around with brake cleaner. Hit the rotor a few times with a rubber mallet. (DO NOT USE A HAMMER!)

Q: What tools do i need to remove the front hub from a 1993 Ford Bronco 4X4 to change the rotors?

A: There is a special socket with pins on the end to remove the lock nut. Everything behind the lock nut and washer is spring loaded and it will come out real fast if your not careful.

Q: How much would it cost to paint my 1993 Ford Bronco?
I

A: It depends on how much body work it will need and how good of a paint job you want.

If the body is in descent shape and the current paint is not pealing or chipping. Then a good paint job would be $1,500 to $2,000 the more work it would need the more it would cost.

If you just want a cheapo paint job then you can get one of those $500 Maaco jobs but it will not look good.

Like anything else you get what you pay for.

Q: How do i change rear drum brakes on a 1993 Ford Bronco?

A: Go out and grab yourself two books…The Hayne’s Manual for your year Bronco, and then the Hayne’s Brake Manual. This is an intense job and will take time and patience. The books will give you a step by step right there by your side, and most importantly, they’ll have pictures.

The reason this is so important is because drum brakes use springs to get the pressure from the brake cylinders in each drum to apply evenly to the shoes. One of the best pieces of advice, other than the books, is to get a digital or old school polaroid camera. Pop off both wheels, then the drums. Work on one wheel at a time, but when it comes time to reassemble to the springs, you’ll have a real-time guide to go by and it’s a lot easier than getting up and looking and comparing, sitting down, getting back up….

It is a serious job, will take some time if you’ve never done it before and definitely some patience. It’s not an impossible job though. It’s the first thing I learned when I was 15 years old…drum brakes. I did it by myself one weekend and it worked out great.

BTW–grab the Hayne’s manual because there are a few specific (but cheap) tools you will need to make this easier for yourself. It describes them as well as the actual process for the job. Good luck.

Q: My 1993 Ford Bronco is having some odd electrical issues.?
I was driving my Bronco when i suddenly realized the Volt reading was reading a bit lower than usual, about half way through the normal region, when normally it’s on the “L” of normal on the meter. When I drive it for long periods of time, the meter shows the battery is recharging, eventually making it back up to the “L”, but if i run the lights, the sound system, even the defroster when i’m idling or in park, the battery will slowly lose power.

I’m no expert, but i’m confused as to whether this is a battery issue or an alternator issue.

help?

A: Only way to be sure is to test the alternator output, amperage wise. But from what you describe, it does indeed sound like a weak alternator. I would replace it, but be sure to fully charge and test the battery before starting it up with the new alternator installed. Those alternators don’t have the cooling capacity to charge a completely dead or very low battery, and the heat generated can damage the new alternator quite quickly.

Q: New 1993 ford bronco?
I just bought a 1993 bronco XLT. it runs great and I love it can anyone tell if I should be expecting anyproblems with it?

A: Keep up on the transmission fluid changes. If you have the E4OD this is important, every 30k miles; See if you can get the bottom of the tailgate sealed, the tailgates like to rust. If you have the automatic hubs and you do some off-roading you may end up having to swap in some manual hubs,

Q: 1993 Ford Bronco wont start?
I recently bought a 1993 Ford Bronco that when i bought it wouldn’t run for more than 5 minutes cuz of bad injectors. I replaced 4 of them and also took the fuel injectors that were soaking wet and put dry injectors in. The drivers side has all new injectors. Now it wont start at all. It wont even fire like there is no fuel in the system. I can suck fuel using a vacuum hose that i have to the bleeding valve. I have a fuel reset light that comes on. Anyone who can please help that would be greatly appreaciated.

A: Maybe reset the fuel pump cut off switch. Not sure were it’s located in your bronco. Maybe up under the dash under the glove box. It’s designed to kill power to the the fuel pump in a crash. If you do any offroading or wheelin it will sometimes trip it.

Q: Fuel Gauge 1993 Ford Bronco 5.0 V8 EFI.?
Hello everyone! I just bought a beautiful 1993 Bronco Eddie Bauer. I noticed the fuel gauge doesn’t work. When the key is in aux. position it marks a quarter tank all the time. But it has a full tank. When the truck is running or key on position the gauge marks down to empty. I think it may be the float, but someone else mentioned it could be the fuel control relay. Whats that another term for fuel pump relay? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Sam

A: take the wire off the sending unit (on the tank) and touch it to ground. if the gage goes up with the key on that rules out the gage. it’s the sending unit. there will be no spark so don’t worry

Q: I am considering buying a 1993 ford bronco. 4speed auto 5.8L V8 351. 140k miles. What sould I look out for?
As far as damage? Matinance? Condition? Concerns? Problems? However you wanna word it. You get the picture. What needs to be carefully looked at?

A: Cab cracks, right behind the rain gutters over the doors. Tailgate rusted out, they can be expensive. Transmission problems like burned fluid or strange shifts, slamming into gear or missing gears

Q: Is it possible to retrofit Airbags on a 1993 Ford Bronco? (see details)?
I am currently looking at purchasing a 1993 Ford Bronco for myself. However my one requirement is that it has to have an airbag. The model I have found does not have an airbag installed in the drivers side wheel (the only one I am concerned about) however the dealership that currently owns it says it might be possible to install an airbag.

Does anyone know where I can find the airbag to install, and how much it might cost in order to get it installed? Also if you can also help, I am currently in the Phoenix, Arizona area, and I would need a place to install it for me. If you can recommend a place to install it I would appreciate it. But that is not required for this question.

A: if you must have an airbag. it will take time and money. you’ll need the sensor, the airbag, the steering wheel, the wiring harness and god knows what else before it’s over with. then the installation, i would recommend getting a hayes/chiltons book on the truck and go from there. i’m pretty sure some trucks had airbags in 93. oh yeah go to a junk jard for parts and when they say we don’t have on for your truck be sure to ask about an f-series and be clear you don’t care what it came out of as long as it’s close to that year (97 and up likely won’t fit). personally i wouldn’t worry about it. it’s 1 more thing to go wrong, it will be a head ache to install or it will cost you dearly. that’s a big steel truck. i’ll vouch for the f-series, they’ll take a hit.

Find new and used 1992 Ford Bronco at our automotive classifieds and Used Cars for Sale website Classifieds.CarForums.net

Q: I have a 1992 Ford Bronco Full Size I want to know how to bypass the clutch safety switch?
You have to push the clutch all the way to the floorboard for the engine to start.

A: The best way to do it is “don’t”. That switch is not just there as a safety device to prevent starting the vehicle with the clutch engaged. It’s also an input to the PCM (powertrain control module) to adjust parameters to suit “load” or “no-load” operating conditons.

Q: is it possible for the overdrive button to get stuck on a 1992 ford bronco full size ?
changed stering column everything worked fine for about 5 miles rpm guage stop working, gass guage stop working , voltage guage stop working .

A: anything is possible. except me being rich

Q: What is my 1992 ford Bronco with 188k Miles Engine is in good condition also Interior and body worth?

A: Kelly Blue Book is ok but if you want to know what you can expect to get for it you should use NADA.com This is the book used by dealerships to price cars and make offers. Get the low and high amount and negotiate trade in value or resale value from the higher number to the lower number. Go to the website and simply follow the directions. Kelly B Book is ok but this is the real thing. The high value is 5500 the low 3500. So the dealership may try to offer you 3000 bucks then they WILL sell it for 5500. So you start your negotiation at $5500 make a big stink and you will probably get 4500-4800 for it. THESE FIGURES ARE FROM NADA

Q: how do i change the headlights of a 1992 ford bronco?
i have problems changing the left and right headlights…how do u change them??

A: From the rear of the headlamp bezel twist counter-clockwise on the retaining ring and remove old bulb. Be sure not to touch the new halogen bulb glass with your fingers when installing, the oil on the human skin causes hotspots that will burn through reducing bulb life.

Q: 1992 ford bronco what engine to drop in it?
i have a 5.8L V8 not much for power at 210 hp i want to put something fun in it(460, any other suggests for engines that would be able to drop in it) but i dont know what will pass emmissions

A: It will be much easier and cheaper to uprade the 5.8L V8. It is basically a 351 Windsor. Get a 408 Stroker Crank, install a decent set of heads and a decent cam and 400hp with 400 lb ft of torque should be no problem.

Q: where can i find computer trouble code reader for a 1992 ford bronco, and how much will it cost?

A: Well if you are talking a one time thing you might as well go to murrays or autozone and just look through the haynes or chilton manual. There is a section on trouble codes and usually they tell you a trick to read them using a test light on the data connector or in some cases turning the ign. sw. on and off a number of times and counting the check eng light flashes. This way you spend little to no money up front and could find out the problem. Or last case autozone rents tools very cheap and do rent scanners.

Q: I installed a JVC Stereo in my 1992 Ford Bronco. It doesn’t sound right. When I adjust the front and rear ….?
I installed a JVC Stereo in my 1992 Ford Bronco. It doesn’t sound right. Adjusting the front and rear balance: all to the rear speakers i can still hear sound in the front left speaker, all to front only the front left speaker works. And in the even balance>Front/rear,every speaker works except the front right. I followed the color coded wires it exampled in the installation manual. I used tube crimps all around. What might be the problem? Any Help would be Grateful.

A: The wires from the back of the unit to the speakers might be mismatched. You might want to run new speaker wires to your speakers so that you know they are right.

Q: I Adjusted my Power Steering Box On my 1992 Ford Bronco Full Size. It was too “Loose”. But now It feels to >?
I Adjusted my Power Steering Box On my 1992 Ford Bronco Full Size. It was too “Loose”. But now It feels to “Stiff”. I Adjusted it again, but now it just doesn’t feel right! I have to fight the steering when driving just to keep it straight , turn , or just drive. When I turn , usually when u make a turn , the steering corrects itself. Now , I have to manually turn the wheel straight again. I checked the fluid and its full. There is absolutely no play in the steering whats so ever. Im praying that no Air leaked into the lines when I Adjusted it. What Do U Think ?????

A: Adjusting the steering box is a little more involved than just giving the bolt a crank or two. Most of the time it’s done in very small increments( like a quarter turn at a time or less) sure hope you counted how many times you turned it, otherwise you have no reference point to go back to to try again. Air in the line wont affect it as the pump is constantly circulating the fluid. I would suggest taking it to a good shop to have the front end checked, cuz unless the whole front end is new I’ll lay money that she needs atleast a proper 4 wheel alignment, but typically the drag link, pitman arm and tierod ends have play. it’s nearly impossible for them not to if you have any miles on the parts. If the wheel doesn’t return fairly close to center on it’s own then ,the alignment is whacked ( which it will be, especially if you 4by or drive rough roads) , or you have a steering part needing to be replaced. Your problem is typical of some one trying to figure something out but not knowing exactly what to do. harder than it looks eh? not knockin ya at all, kudos for trying but there are some things that should be left for the pros, or atleast have one around to bail you out if needed. Trust me I fix learning mistakes all the time. please just take it to a(good) shop and have them check it out, don’t know what shops in your area charge but most of the steering parts for them are pretty cheap to buy, and if all it needs is an adjustment to the steering box and a toe adjustment on the alignment then you should be in for about 2 hrs labour. tie rods are cheap( about 35 bucks a side) and most shops charge about 1/2 hr per side to change, draglink is a little more expensive ( about 100 bucks) and should be about 1 hr labour pitman arm is about 50 bucks and about 1 hr to change. the only part that will be more pricey is if it needs caster/ camber adjustments cuz it’ll need shims and special clocked ball joints for that but unless it’s really whacked Don’t worry about that.I just finished rebuilding another 90 bronc and it cost me $382.18 for the parts(with all 4 ball joints) I did the work myself (it’s what I do) so no I didn’t have any labour for that But I did get my buddy to do the alignment for me so that cost $74.00 for the 1 hr labour for the toe adjustment.( the tierods are adjusted to change the front to back angle of the front tires to get them to track properly) get a 4 wheel alignment not a 2 wheel, 2 wheel alignments are a total waste of money, 4 wheel means that not only are your front wheels straight but they are parallel to the rear tires, not “dogtracking”. you probably won’t have to get all the parts replaced, I just did cuz it’s a bronco and they’re my hobby (and most of the parts were fu@ked!). any ways sorry to have written a novel here but I’m just trying to explain that it should go to a shop. You can get it checked out, find out what the problem is and go at it from there. You don’t actually have to have anything done at that point in time. you can pay for the inspection and bring it back later. It doesn’t have to be done all at once, if it needs lots of work, get the most important stuff done first, then bring it back later and get other stuff tended to.But when it’s done you should get a 4 wheel alignment.(when finished, not with every part change, most good mechanics can change parts and keep it pretty close to where it was when you brought it in by eye but it won’t be perfect) Best of luck! any questions feel free to ask, I have many answers.

Q: Considering buying a 1992 Ford Bronco V8 with a 302. Its a 4×4 with about 140,000 miles on it.?
I have never had a bronco before it looks good from what I saw from it. It looks like it was taken care of. I love how they look and I have wanted one for sometime and I finally found one that really caught my eye. It is lifted 6in sitting on 35’s. Its a beastly beauty! Just what a girl like me is looking for lol I do know quite a bit about cars just not familiar with them. I am going to see it in person and test drive it tomorrow so, Any pointers on what to check for? Any problems you have had with yours or you know about that 1992 broncos have period? Thanks in advanced!
I am not going to buy it just because its cute. I have had lifted vehicles before and i would by far rather have a 20 year old truck than a 2 day old truck i have a brand new chevy trailblazer yeah its nice but it has some problems a newer vehicle is far more expensive to fix than a old one. i am pretty damn smart when it comes to cars and my husband knows them like the back of his hand neither one of us have had s bronco though and have researched their problems and are getting nothing. i appreciate the response but im not stupid. i would buy a cute car that has major problems. i just sold my 1999 dodge durango that was lifted 10in. with big tires on as well and it would be taken off road SOMETIMES not all the time. i take very good care of the vehicles i get
****i would NOT buy a cute car with alot of problems
****i would NOT buy a cute car with alot of problems
Thanks i didnt end up getting it the motor had a little knock

A: I have a 95 with a 4 inch lift, 33’s and the 351.

1. Make sure it’s been regeared. With the 302, you’re going to want 4.56’s, 4.10s would be acceptable. If it still has the stock 3.55s, walk away. Regearing will cost about $1200 if it hasn’t been done, and it’s pretty much mandatory to preserve power and fuel economy.

2. Make sure the transmission has been serviced regularly, if it has the E4OD, and it hasn’t been rebuilt yet, plan on spending about $2k on a rebuild sometime in the next 20k miles or so. Ford didn’t really get that transmission right until 1995/1996. I

3. Check for rust at the bottom of the tailgate, if it’s rusted through plan on spending $500 for a replacement shell plus paint and labor for putting the window motor and assorted other into it.

4. Listen to hear if the top squeaks alot. If it does that means that the top was removed at some point and stored improperly, the squeaking is just going to get worse, there’s no fix for it short of getting a new top.

5. If it has push button 4WD make sure the transfer case and hubs engage, the auto-hubs are notoriously weak and it’s not unusual to see manual hubs installed, this is no reason for concern. However the electric motor that engages the transfer case often gets lazy/stuck, if it’s stuck plan on spending around $350 a rebuilt one or get used to crawling under the truck and hitting the motor with a hammer whilst someone pushes the 4×4 button.

6. Check for oil leaks, both the 302 and 351 tend to develop oil leaks from the rear main seal.

7. Since this is a lifted truck see what kind of lift kit it has. If it’s some cheap ass $800 superlift kit with drop brackets instead of new radius arms, take that as a hint that the owner was probably cheap and may not have taken good care of the vehicle as a whole. Make sure the front wheels aren’t cambered in.

8. Make sure it has a steering stabilizer, preferably a double.

9. Have your mechanic give the truck a once over, if the Bronco’s owner balks at this, then there is probably something wrong with it, walk away

Q: Whats a good exhaust for a 1992 Ford Bronco to boost horse power and make a mean sound. “Cost efficient.”

A: 2 1/2 inch exhaust with some glass packs or thrust or turbo mufflers.
It’ll run around 150 to 250 depending so shop around

Q: I have a 1992 Ford Bronco I was told it has an exhaust leak, how much will it cost and is it an easy repair?

A: It depends where in the exhaust system the leak is. If it’s a hole in the muffler, a new muffler is maybe $100-$150 installed. If it’s the tailpipe or exhaust pipe, it will vary. Go to a muffler shop and get a free estimate.

Q: 1992 Ford Bronco XLT: How do I tell which V8 I have, 5.0 or 5.8?
I am trying to tell if I have the 5.0 or 5.8 engine in my Bronco…are there any ways I can tell if it’s the Windsor or…uh….I dunno what the name of the other one is, I’m a little out of the loop.

A: the easiest way is to look at the VIN for the engine code
XFM X U15 N ……….. is 5.0 L (302)
XFM X U15 H ……….. is 5.8 L (351 windsor)

if you measure the width of the intake manifold a 5.0 is about 9 inches from head to head and a 351W is about 11 inches from head to head.
P.S.
the 351C (cleavland) and the 351M (modified 400) were not available in 1992.

Q: anyone know were i can get a shift tube for a 1992 ford bronco fullsize5.8l?
want to buy a new one if possible

A: Two for sale here pretty cheap

http://autoparthound.com/?s=bronco+shift+tube

Q: Will the manual transmission from a 1992 ford explorer work in a 1986 ford bronco II?

A: you need to veryfy what transmissions you have, they both have to be the same in the interchange. Usually those old bronco II had the mitsubishi unit and the explorer usually had the mazda unit (TOYO KOGYO) otherwise also referred to as the M5R1.

mazda will not go where the mitsubishi is and vice versa.

interchangeable years on the Toyo Kogyo are 83-87 and then 88-up. on the mistubishit its 82-92.

some bronco II’s did have the mazda unit, you are going to have to look and see which one you have to get another one.

P.S. I can sell you either one completely rebuilt with a one year warranty if intrested.

Q: how many shocks are on a 1992 ford bronco?

A: 4
